Hi, wow I'm glad your mum is ok – you've had a difficult weekend. Hope she is all better by Christmas. Do you do a family Chistmas? When do you celebrate?

Hi 🙂 Thank you for your concern – she's better, but still quite drugged and reacts slowly, but hopefully she'll be better tomorrow. The doctors think that she might be able to go home on friday, but they didn't want to say anything for sure. But I'm certain she'll be home for Christmas. 🙂
We have a family tradition and we gather on the 24th (in the evening) to celebrate. Do you celebrate on the 25th?
Sarah B
Oh, I'm glad she'll definately be home for Christmas.
We celebrate on the 25th. We meet up late morning, exchange gifts ( just something small) and then have lunch. We will probably do two lunches, one with my parents and then go to Lyndon's parents for the afternoon. We were planning on inviting people around for the evening of 25th but by then most poeple are too tired from eating all day – a bit of an Aussie tradition.
What do you then do on the 25th?

Sounds nice too 🙂 We exchange gifts on the 24th as well.
Most people go out on the 25th and the 26th and eat lunch(es). It's one big feast from the 24th till the 26th. And also tradition here is that we meet with different groups of people (work, friends etc) during December – also for lunch (a certain Christmas lunch with tradtional foods) 🙂
In my family we agree that everybody is too tired on the 25th so we stay at home relaxing and enjoying the gifts and eating leftovers from the noght before 😛

Well, quite similar really, lots of eating!!
I'm really into the swing of it all this year as we have so much more space than my tiny apartment that wer had been living in for the lst 7 years. SO, this is the first time for a long time we have had room for a tree and decorations and a kitchen big enough to cook cakes and other treats. The kitchen in my apartment is about as big as the pantry in this house, so that's good. Yesterday I made a gingerbread house and am planning on making more shortbread. I made my first Christmas fruit cake a couple o weeks ago. I ight have to try that today 🙂
I'm feeling fatter just thinking about all this food!!

Omg – I wish I could do all those treats as well – but I never seem to manage to get around to it LOL 🙂 Also , I'm not that good in a kitchen. Hubby is much better than me 🙂

Well I have a LOT of kitchen disasters – I'm quite well known for it, but I think I am getting better with practice.
I won't be cooking Christmas dinner (lunch) as my mother the best at doing that.
It will be nice to relax (not do too much renovating) and have a couple of weeks off work.
